UBC’s Family Medicine Residency Program prepares residents for Certification by the College of Family Physicians (CFPC) through experiential learning, academic and scholarly activity, as well as competency assessments.
The CFPC Certification Examination is a part of the competency assessment process. It is required for program completion and for licensure in B.C., as well as most other provinces in Canada.

Study Suggestions & Resources
Residents who form study groups tend to perform strongly on the certification exam. Having a diverse selection of residents, including Canadian Medical Graduates, International Medical Graduates, as well as residents from other universities, can help strengthen the study group. Remember to start early — 6-8 months prior to the exam.
Visit the Exam Prep Resources tab for advice and study guides to help you prepare.
