• The Resident Resilience Committee (RRC), the first of its kind in Canada, came into being following the tragic loss to suicide of a wonderful human being and UBC family medicine resident in 2009.
• Since then, RRC has been an integral part of our Program’s wellness and resiliency focus. Residency training impacts resident wellness and resiliency through stressors within and without our Program. We are committed to responding to these stressors and improving the learning environment and medical culture
• We acknowledge and celebrate the resilience of our resident population. We strive to support and sustain our resident wellness throughout residency training experience.
• We are committed to recognizing and supporting the coping mechanisms and strengths of residents while addressing systemic factors in conflict with resilience.
• We are resident driven and resident co-chaired with strong representation from residents, faculty and admins
• RRC normally meets quarterly or at call of chairs
• RRC Co-Chairs report to Postgraduate Education Committee (PGEC) three times per year
Full details for residents and faculty (including preceptors) are available in Entrada
